Making a Spectator Select a Card - Version 2

By Wayne Kawamoto, About.com

Some card tricks rely on a technique that makes a spectator think that he has a free choice of selecting any card in the deck, but actually has a choice of only a single card. Magicians call this "forcing a card." This technique makes use of a count and a clever switch of the positions of the cards.

Arrange the deck with the card that you want the spectator to pick at the ninth position from the top of the deck. For demonstration purposes, we have set up the deck in the picture with a red card that will represent the one that the spectator will select. Of course, the use of the different colored card is for demonstration purposes only to show you the position of the forced card.
